A Magical Beach Maternity Session — From Golden to Blue Hours

A few weekends ago, I had the absolute pleasure of documenting N and R's maternity session at Golden Gardens Beach in Seattle. They were wonderful to work with and expressed a desire to capture the enchanting golden hour sky and the grand landscape of the beach in their photos.

We began our session in a nearby botanical garden, where we enjoyed the scent of blooming flowers and the sight of graceful geese. As the sun started to dip lower, we moved to Golden Gardens, ready to seize the magical light of the setting sun.

N's dress was truly astonishing, fitting her perfectly and exuding effortless beauty. The ever-changing lighting around sunset allowed us to capture several distinct sets of photos. We began with the bright, clear daylight, transitioning to the gentle orange hues of the golden hour.

One of my favorite maternity photo poses — “we are pregnant!”

As the sun transformed into a deep orange and finally to a soft purple, we captured the serene and romantic ambiance. The epic purple and orange sunset provided a dramatic backdrop, culminating in the moody blue hour post-sunset. Each lighting change offered a unique atmosphere, adding depth and variety to the session.

I cannot get over this image! N looks like a goddess!!

To add a special touch, I provided lanterns for the blue hour photos for a more moody feel. The photos turned out pretty different than the early ones, adding much variety to the final gallery. The lanterns are common props used in outdoor PNW elopements.

The moods

This session was a beautiful blend of natural beauty and tender moments, making it an unforgettable evening.

If you're in the Pacific Northwest and need a photographer, I'd be more than happy to work with you and tailor to your needs to get you the perfect photos. Let's capture your special moments together!
